Louise Tamres

Louise Tamres is an independent consultant that partners with The Westfall Team as a trainer. Louise is a software quality advocate who has worked on every stage of software development, starting with gathering customer requirements, programming, testing, all the way through end-user training at final hand-off.

At GE Medical Systems, Louise learned to analyze requirements on a project that was ahead of schedule, under budget, and virtually defect-free, and has thus strived to apply these lessons throughout her career. As a tester at Nortel, she was ingrained with the development team and honed her test design skills. At General Motors Powertrain, she established software development processes to achieve ISO 9000 and CMM (levels 2 and 3). Louise was a QA Manager at Electro Scientific Industries, Clareos, and Arbor Networks, where she learned risk-based techniques to deliver products under tight deadlines. Louise currently works at ProQuest where she performs requirements analysis and validation for pharmacovigilance.

With a penchant for writing and grammar, Louise has produced all manners of documentation. Her frequent role in mentoring fledgling testers led to the development of her book Introducing Software Testing published by Addison-Wesley.

Louise is active in the ASQ Software Division. She has served as Michigan Regional Councilor, Education Chair, Conference Chair, and serves on the editorial board for Software Quality Professional.

Louise is an ASQ Certified Software Quality Engineer (CSQE) and Certified Quality Auditor (CQA). She received her MS in Computer Science and BS in Mathematics from the University of Michigan. She is a native French speaker, Master Gardener, dance teacher, and former competitive ballroom dance champion. Louise lives with her husband and teenage kids in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
